House Owners Insurance Covers Damage to the House (building ) due to Fire, Lighting, Explosion, Earthquake, Impact, Smoke, Theft or attempted theft, Non political riot, Strike and Civil Commotion, storm or flood, subsidence or heave or landslip or Malicious damage falling trees or branches, collision involving aircraft or flying object or animals or Vehicles, Falling Television or Radio aerials, Water or oil escaping from any fixed water or heating installation and breakage of fixed sanitary ware.

Arrange for inspection of the property(House)
Submit a copy of the latest Valuation report to the Insurance Company
Submit a Copy of Title Deed / Proof of Ownership to the Insurance Company
For Example:
Mr. Vincent Masuwa (Not his real Name) had a House which was valued at K500, 000.00
His Insurance Premium for the whole year was Calculated as follows:
Sum Insured x Rate + Insurance Levy = Annual Premium.
K500, 000 X 0.125% +3% = Annual Premium
K625 + K18.75 = K 643.75 per year as Premium
This means for a House which is valued at K500,000 , He only paid K643.75 one off.
Let me REPEAT this, He only paid K643 .75 for the whole year. Not monthly but a one off payment.

It even gets better!
One day, a Tree next to his house fell on the House and destroyed part of the House. After the Insurance Adjuster assessed the damaged, the cost of repairing the House came to K250, 000. He was required to pay K25, 000 as his 10% excess for the claim.
The Insurance Company paid K225, 000 towards the repairing of the House.
This is good news considering that He had only paid K643.75 as premium.
If the house was completely gutted by fire, The Insurance Company would have paid K450, 000 and he would have been required to contribute K50,000 as Excess since His House was valued at K500,000.00.*.T&C apply.
